It’s been quite a first week I can tell you…a flying start to Freemantle, Prestons Beach and then to a wonderful place called Mandurah. Here we enjoyed wandering through the marina eyeing up the launches and wondering just “if” it was possible. Beautiful beaches, lovely park and a relaxed atmosphere. Then “Lisa” took us to Busselton and then onto the Margaret River region. If anyone is thinking about going to this area – then a trip to the Laurence Winery is a must. They used the timber posts from a dismantled port in Sydney which, once removed, took over two years to dry. With an approximate ten metre stud cathedral ceiling the effect is simply amazing. The Cheeky Monkey Brewery was a great stop too. Here’s a landscape pic of the Laurence Winery just to whet the appetite however the picture really doesn’t do the venue justice! Free wine tasting throughout the region – perfect…
Just some other wonderful stops along the way.
On our way back to Perth we stopped by some new subdivisions – all residential homes are made with brick due to the termites eating the timber. It was an eye opener for Carter to see a kangaroo sitting up tall in one of the vacant plots!
Back in Perth we met up with the son of a very good friend. Nik had just moved to Perth one month ago and we had a fabulous last night out at Hillary’s Wharf – another ideal spot for us to take in the wonders of living the beach life.
The next day our plans were to change.
